Question by sugarcoatedsour: Tragus piercing & ear plugs? Musicians?
I have my tragus pierced, it’s fairly healed (red and such from scarring though, using emu oil on which got rid of the bumps)…

Anyway, I use the hearos plugs with the dome type things, like these http://www.audubonstrings.com/oscommerce-2.2ms2-051113/catalog/images/p28067b.jpg

It gets caught on the piercing (its got a stud in it with the flat back) and it REALLY HURTS to try and pull it out, should i:

- change the jewellery to something else, or
- use different earplugs ???

Recommendations guys? I paid for those damn earplugs and they work really well except for this problem!

I would try different jewellery first. Its cheaper than buying different earplugs.

I would try a CBR first, as that shouldn’t get caught on those earplugs. But it may cause the hypertrophic scarring to come back.

Wait till its properly healed before you mess around changing the jewellery though. If you want to change it sooner, go to the piercer and have them change it to an autoclaved piece. It won’t get aggrevated so much, and it will be sterile, which is always good.
